Getting Around Light Night Leeds

Create your own route or hop on one of the free Light Night Rider buses, bring your bike, or even hail a Water Taxi! 

Please be aware that there have been a number of changes to vehicle access in Leeds City Centre as part of the on going Highways Improvement Scheme. There will also be several road closures in place for your safety during Light Night.

Those attending the event are strongly advised to consider public transport options in the first instance. Please see map and below information for further details regarding travel during the event.

Interactive Map Instructions:

  1. Click on the square icon at the top right of the map to open in full screen mode.
  2. Click the arrow at the top left of the menu to go to the main menu (including search function and map view options).
  3. Switch between satellite view and map view of your preference by scrolling to the bottom left of menu and clicking on the square tile.
  4. Turn layers of information on and off by clicking the red tick boxes the left of the menu
  5. Click the coloured lines, boxes and location pins on the map for specific details.

Thursday and Friday 6:30pm to 10:30pm

Light Night’s very own free hop on hop off bus service. Bus stops are available for all the different zones. Buses approximately every 20 mins.  The service is fully accessible.

New for 2023

There will be 3 routes to choose from during the event.

Buses will stop at each location approximately every 20 mins. 

All services are fully wheelchair accessible. Each bus will have 2 spaces and priority will be given to wheelchair users.

Stourton and Elland Road Park and Ride facilities will be staying open late especially for Light Night.  Park and Ride Thursday and Friday until 11pm (last bus from Leeds City Centre at 10.30pm).  Journey into the city centre every 20 mins with free Wifi. Return tickets are £1.50 per person all evening with up to three children travelling free with every fare-paying adult.

Stourton Park & Ride will play host to one of our fantastic community installations, The Heofon Light Maze, which will be in residence during the event and is powered from the fully solar grid which also powers all of the park and ride facilities year round.  Elland Road will host the Luminosi Trees. Please note that Temple Green Park & Ride will not operate extended hours during Light Night and will close at 20:30 (last bus from Lower Briggate at 20:00)

Take a £2 boat ride along the canal on a water taxi from Leeds Station Southern Entrance to Leeds Dock.
